Study Abroad: University of Otago

Dunedin, New Zealand

I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to study abroad in Fall 2019 at the University of Otago in Dunedin, New Zealand. I chose to study abroad at this university because I was interested in experiencing what a larger university was like and I was excited to take courses that Dickinson did not offer. Plus, I would be a liar if I did not admit that I was also drawn by the awe-inspiring natural beauty of the country.

During my time at Otago, I took courses in surveying, geology, and indigenous cultures of New Zealand. I lived in a 6-person flat with international students from England, Amsterdam, and the United States. I absolutely loved learning about their cultures - everything from food to holidays to TV shows. On the weekends, we would often be outdoors hiking, backpacking, surfing, or even bungee jumping!

For my Introduction to GIS course, I made a StoryMap journaling my adventures around the island. Feel free to check out that map below!
